He faced 97 balls and scored a total of 73 runs, with the help of 7 fours and 2 towering sixes. This half-century not only proved to be a lifesaver for the team, but also gave him a major personal achievement.
With this brilliant innings, Rohit Sharma has set a new record. He has now become the third player for the Indian cricket team to score 11237 runs in ODI cricket. In achieving this milestone, he surpassed former Indian captain and legendary left-handed batsman Sourav Ganguly (11221 runs).
Rohit Sharma now trails only two greats: Sachin Tendulkar (18426 runs) and Virat Kohli (14181 runs).

India got off to a poor start when Shubman Gill (9) and Virat Kohli (0) were dismissed early. Subsequently, Rohit Sharma (73) (97 balls) and Shreyas Iyer (61) (77 balls) steadied the innings, forging a crucial century partnership.
