Fifth Indian to Reach No.1 ODI Ranking
Rohit Sharma is now the fifth Indian to become the world’s top ODI batter.
Before him, this honor was achieved by:
- Sachin Tendulkar
- Mahendra Singh Dhoni
- Virat Kohli
- Shubman Gill
Rohit also became the oldest player (38 years and 182 days) to reach the No.1 ODI ranking in ICC history. Only Sachin Tendulkar had topped the Test rankings at a similar age back in 2011.
Shubman Gill Slips in Ranking
While Rohit was in great form, Shubman Gill struggled in the series against Australia.
He could score only 10, 9, and 24 runs in the three matches. Because of this poor performance, Gill moved down from the top position to No.3.
