He has not played any cricket since the Indian Premier League 2025, but the India ODI captain has started practicing for the Australia series. The report claims that Rohit has expressed his desire to play for India A, but it is yet to be officially confirmed.

India's upcoming tour of Australia will consist of a series of three ODIs and five T20 Internationals. These ODIs will be played in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney on October 19, 23 and 25 respectively. There is speculation in the cricketing circles that this could be Rohit's last international tour as a player.

Rohit has had a stellar ODI career, scoring 11,168 runs in 273 matches with 32 centuries. He was the Player of the Match in India's last ODI against New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy.

Meanwhile, former cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that the 2027 ODI World Cup will be Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma's last World Cup. He hopes that after Rohit, the team management will hand over the reins to Shubman Gill.
