Police arrested RCB marketing head Nikhil Sosale: Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) celebration of winning the IPL 2025 title turned into grief on Wednesday when at least 11 people died and 50 others were injured in a stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The stampede took place among a huge crowd that had come to watch the Victory Bus Parade just hours after defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final on Tuesday. Following the incident, four RCB officials, including RCB marketing head Nikhil Sosle, have been detained by the Bangalore Police.

According to the police, Sosle was leaving Bangalore for Mumbai when he was detained from Kempegowda International Airport at around 6.30 am on Friday. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had on Thursday ordered the arrest of RCB representatives after an FIR was lodged against them, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Nikhil Sosle along with three members of event management company DNA Entertainment Pvt Ltd have been detained.

Who is Nikhil Sosale, the marketing head of RCB?

Who is Nikhil Sosale?: According to Nikhil Sosale's LinkedIn profile, he was born on August 18, 1986. He has been the marketing head of RCB for almost two years. Sosale is originally an employee of Diageo India, which operates RCB's owner United Spirits Limited (USL). USL became the full-time owner of RCB after former owner Vijay Mallya fled abroad.

Sosale has also been seen at several places associated with both RCB's men's and women's teams. He was also part of the celebrations when the RCB women's team won the Women's Premier League (WPL) title in 2024. He was also seen with the franchise during the IPL auction. Sosale is a double major from James Cook University in Queensland, Australia.

Having been involved with RCB's marketing and business strategy for several years, it is possible that Sosale had some role in arranging and conducting the bus parade to celebrate RCB's first IPL title win. He is also believed to play a role in the communication between the players and the franchise officials.

He leads the design, strategy and delivery of the business and marketing charter of the RCB brand and commercial programs. The detained RCB officials, including Sosle, are likely to be handed over to the Crime Investigation Department. They are being questioned at the Cubbon Park police station. The FIR regarding the stampede has been registered at the same station. In this FIR, a case has also been registered against RCB, the company organizing the event and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
