The Group C match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was played between Punjab and Andhra in Ranchi. In the match, Punjab team captain Mandeep Singh won the toss and decided to bat first. After this, while opening, there was a quick partnership of 93 runs for the first wicket between Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh. Prabhasimran returned to the pavilion on a personal score of 24.
After this Abhishek Sharma played a century in 42 balls. He scored a total of 112 runs in his innings. Apart from him, while batting in the last over, Anmolpreet Singh played a brilliant inning of 87 runs in just 26 balls with a strike rate of more than 300, which included a total of 6 fours and 9 sixes. Punjab scored 275 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. During this period the team hit a total of 22 sixes. In reply, Ricky played an unbeaten century of 104 runs for Andhra team which was chasing 276 runs. Apart from him, no batsman could score more runs. Andhra team collapsed for 170 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs and Punjab team won the match by 105 runs.
Till now, the record of scoring the highest score in a match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was in the name of Mumbai team, which had scored 258 runs in the match against Sikkim in the year 2019. In this match, Shreyas Iyer played an inning of 147 runs in 55 balls. Suryakumar Yadav had also scored 63 runs.
