Superstar Salman Khan announced Shreyas Iyer as the captain of Punjab Kings during the Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 18.
The Punjab Kings team has been participating in the IPL since 2008, but the team has not won the title even once. But this time Punjab Kings bought Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction to win the trophy. It was then clear that he would become the captain of Punjab. Shreyas Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shashank Singh came as guests in the show Bigg Boss-18 season hosted by Salman Khan. Where Salman Khan confirmed that Iyer would be the captain of Punjab Kings. After this, the Punjab team announced Shreyas Iyer as the captain by posting on the social media platform X.

Shreyas Iyer has experience of captaincy before and he also makes excellent changes in bowling. Under his captaincy, Kolkata Knight Riders won the title last season. But even after this, he was not retained by the KKR team. Before KKR, Iyer has also captained Delhi Capitals and under his captaincy, the Delhi team made it to the IPL finals.

Shreyas Iyer is also a great middle order batsman. He has been playing in the IPL since 2015 and for the first time he played for the Delhi Capitals team.
