The action follows repeated breaches of contractual obligations and public criticism from franchise owner Ali Tareen.
The PCB confirmed the decision on Thursday, putting an end to a months-long dispute between the board and Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen.

According to reliable PCB sources, after completing all legal procedures, the board has issued a Formal Termination Notice to Multan Sultans. The suspension was imposed due to violations of rules related to the franchise's conduct and communication.
The board claims that franchise owner Ali Tareen's public criticism of PSL management has damaged the league's reputation.

Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen has been vocal about the PSL's operations and management. He has frequently questioned the league's direction and lack of novelty on social media, particularly on Twitter.
Last April, before the start of PSL 10, he clearly expressed his disagreement
"How is PSL 10 so much bigger and better? Same games, same teams – what's new? I'm fed up with empty talk. The PCB had time to plan new ideas, but we're repeating last year. Our biggest brand deserves more. Explain the vision."

However, Tareen later clarified that his comments were not meant to be negative towards the league, but rather that he wanted genuine development. He also said that he loves the PSL very much.
"I love the PSL – it's a made-in-Pakistan success story that benefits us all. My words weren't meant to be negative, but to promote genuine growth. Salman Naseer and the PCB team are giving their best. Let's unite as owners and support them and move the league forward. No more stagnation."
Senior PCB officials have expressed concern about these public comments and the damage they are causing to the league.
In response, a spokesperson for Multan Sultans confirmed that they had received the legal notice, **but disputed reports of the franchise being terminated
According to reports, if the matter is not resolved amicably, the Pakistan Cricket Board will have the option of revoking Multan Sultans' rights altogether, which could be a major blow to the future of the PSL
