Before the draft of PSL 2025, all 6 teams have released the list of players retained by them. Before the draft, each team could retain a maximum of 8 players, including a maximum of two foreign players. Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars have retained 8-8 players. Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans have retained seven players each. All 6 franchises together have retained a total of 45 players.
Islamabad United won the Pakistan Super League 2024 title. Then the team captain Shadab Khan led the team to victory. He also received the Player of the Tournament award for his excellent performance. The team has also kept Naseem Shah in the Platinum category. At the same time, the team has retained Imad Wasim, Azam Khan, Salman Ali Agha and Haider Ali. The Islamabad team has also appointed Imad Wasim as a mentor.
Babar Azam is the highest run-scorer in the Pakistan Super League. He has a total of 3504 runs to his name. Apart from him, the Peshawar team has retained young batsman Sam Ayub, wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Haris and emerging spinner Sufiyan Muqeem. Ayub has batted well for Pakistan for some time now.
