Pakistan will start the new cycle of WTC against South Africa: The Pakistan team will start the new cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) with a series against defending champions South Africa. The series will be played between Pakistan and South Africa next month. Interestingly, after more than three years, Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium has been given the hosting of a Test match. South Africa won the title of the WTC 2023-25 cycle by defeating Australia in the final in June this year.

Pakistan's performance was not good in the last WTC cycle. Pakistan finished bottom of the WTC table after losing nine of the 14 Test matches, including a 0-2 defeat in the home series against Bangladesh. Pakistan's all-format series against South Africa will begin with the first Test match at the Gaddafi Stadium on October 12. This will be the first Test match in Lahore since the Test match against Australia in March 2022. Rawalpindi will host the second Test match from October 20 and the first match of the three-match T20 International series on October 28. The remaining two T20 matches will be played in Lahore on October 31 and November 1.
The three ODIs will be played in Faisalabad from November 4 to 8 and during this time Iqbal Stadium will host an international match for the first time in 17 years. Two T20 matches were scheduled to be held between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Faisalabad in May but those matches were canceled due to tension between India and Pakistan.

A total of 30 test matches have been played between Pakistan and South Africa. South Africa has won 17 matches and Pakistan has won 6 matches. 7 matches were drawn. South Africa has the upper hand. 87 ODI matches have been played between the two countries so far. South Africa has won 52 matches and Pakistan has won 34 matches. The result of 1 match is not out. Pakistan and South Africa are tied in T20. A total of 24 matches have been played between the two and both teams have won 12-12 matches.
