Legendary Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram recently shared insights on the perennial IPL vs PSL debate. The former pacer’s perspective adds depth to the ongoing discourse surrounding these two premier T20 leagues, showcasing the global evolving and competitive nature of cricket.
When questioned about the IPL versus PSL debate on Sportskeeda, Akram unequivocally favored IPL. Having experience covering both leagues, Akram emphasized the enormity of the IPL, stating that a direct comparison between the two is unwarranted. While acknowledging the significant stature of PSL within its home country, he likened it to a mini-IPL for Pakistan, underscoring the distinct scales of the two T20 leagues.
“IPL. I have worked in both. You can’t compare the two, IPL is huge. PSL is huge in Pakistan, no doubt; it’s like mini-IPL of Pakistan,” Akram said.
The IPL 2024 auction, conducted at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on December 19, marked a watershed moment with several record-breaking bids. Australia pace sensation Mitchell Starc emerged as the highest-paid cricketer in the history of the IPL, securing an astronomical amount of INR 24.75 crore as he joined the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
