PAK vs WI: West Indies has announced a 15-member squad for the Pakistan tour next month. Aamir Jangoo has been given a chance for the first time in the West Indies team. The West Indies team will play a two-match Test series on the Pakistan tour.
Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Moti has returned to the Caribbean team, who could not take part in the home series against Bangladesh last month. According to Cricket West Indies, Shamar Joseph is out of the team due to a calf injury and he will also not be able to participate in the ODI series against Bangladesh this month. Alzari Joseph will not be available due to other commitments.
Amir Jangoo made his place in the national team by performing brilliantly in domestic cricket in 2023-24. He scored more than 500 runs in 5 four-day matches at an average of 63.50. During this, he scored two centuries and a half-century. He was the best run scorer of Trinidad and Tobago.
Apart from this, Jangu's performance in ODI format was also excellent. He scored a century in his debut match against Bangladesh and gave West Indies a memorable victory.
However, there are not many changes in the West Indies team. Craig Braithwaite will lead the team while wicketkeeper batsman Joshua de Silva will be the vice-captain. Michael Lewis, Alec Athanje, Casey Carty and Justin Greaves will handle the batting order. Kemar Roach will take charge of the fast bowling attack, who will be supported by Jayden Seals and Anderson Phillip.
The West Indies team will play a Test series in Pakistan for the first time in 18 years. Earlier, West Indies played a Test series in Pakistan in November 2006. After this, a Test series was played between the two countries in UAE in 2016.
With this series, the current World Test Championship cycle will also end. The 15-member Caribbean team will leave for Pakistan on January 2 and will reach Islamabad on January 6. The first Test between the two teams will be held in Karachi from January 16-20. After this, the second Test will be played in Multan from January 24-28.
