Former great batsman Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for scoring the most runs in a calendar year in Test cricket for Team India. Sachin scored 1562 runs in 23 innings of 14 Test matches in the year 2010. Yashasvi Jaiswal has surpassed Sehwag's record in the 29th innings of the 15th Test match. Sehwag has now slipped to third place in the list. He scored 1462 runs in 27 innings of 14 Test matches in 2008.

The Melbourne Test proved to be the last Test of the year for Yashasvi Jaiswal. In this match, he scored half-centuries in both the innings but could not score a century. If he had scored big centuries in both the innings, he might have broken Tendulkar's record.
