New Zealand Reveal ODI Squad for West Indies Series: Kane Williamson Out

The New Zealand team is currently playing a five-match T20 series at home against the West Indies. Following the conclusion of this series, they will also play a three-match ODI series. New Zealand Cricket has announced its squad for the ODI series, which marks the return of fast bowler Matt Henry. The first match of this ODI series will be played on November 16. Meanwhile, former Kiwi captain and veteran player Kane Williamson has not been selected in New Zealand's squad for the ODI series.

Henry is making a comeback after regaining his fitness

Matt Henry missed the last two matches of the ODI series against England due to a calf strain and has been undergoing rehabilitation to regain his fitness. Now fully fit, he has been included in the Kiwi squad for the ODI series. Following this ODI series, New Zealand will also play a three-match Test series against the West Indies, in which Matt Henry will play a key role. Former captain Kane Williamson has not been selected in the Kiwi ODI squad against the West Indies, primarily because the Test series is scheduled for early December, giving Williamson time to prepare.

Kiwi head coach Rob Walter has expressed his delight at the return of Matt Henry to the New Zealand squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies. "Henry is our senior bowler and his return is a great thing for us as he can play a key role in the ODIs and the subsequent Test series," he said in a statement after the squad was announced.
