Neeraj Chopra Qualify World Athletics Championships Final

India's star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has qualified for the final of the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. He threw the javelin 84.85 meters in his first attempt. India's Rohit Yadav and Sachin Yadav are also participating. Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem is also competing, but he will participate later because Arshad has been placed in Group B.

Neeraj and Arshad are participating in a championship for the first time since the Paris Olympics. The final will be played on Thursday. Both star athletes are participating in a competition for the first time since the Paris Olympics.

Neeraj Chopra threw the javelin 84.85 meters

Neeraj Chopra needed to throw the javelin over 84.50 meters to reach the final of the World Athletics Championships. Neeraj surpassed this mark in his first attempt, throwing a distance of 84.85 meters. Neeraj Chopra was in his group with six athletes, but no other athlete except this brave Indian athlete managed to surpass this mark in the first round.

12 athletes will advance to the finals

The automatic qualification mark for the World Athletics Championships final is 84.50 meters. This means that athletes who clear this distance will secure a place in the final. There will be at least 12 athletes in the final, meaning that if only 9 or 10 athletes manage to cross the 84.50 meter mark, the remaining athletes in the top 12 positions will also advance to the final.

On the other hand, if more than 12 athletes in either group throw a distance of more than 84.50 meters, all will be eligible for entry into the final. The 37 athletes have been divided into two groups, with Neeraj's group consisting of 19 athletes and Arshad's group consisting of 18 throwers. In the qualifying round, all athletes will receive three chances to throw their best throw, and only their best throw will count.

Neeraj Chopra will face Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan in the final

Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem is also participating in this championship. With Neeraj Chopra reaching the final, Arshad Nadeem could also qualify for the final round. Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem last faced each other at the Paris Olympics in 2024. At the Paris Olympics, Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal with a throw of 92.97 meters. India's Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal with a javelin throw of 89.45 meters.
