Mumbai Indians went into the IPL 2026 mini auction with only ₹2.75 crore, which was the lowest purse among all teams. Even with very little money, MI completed their main goal by signing Quinton de Kock for ₹1 crore. It was a smart and safe buy.
Quinton de Kock is not new to Mumbai Indians. He played for MI from 2019 to 2021 and did very well. He scored 529 runs in 2019, 503 runs in 2020, and 297 runs in 2021. During that time, he built a strong opening partnership with Rohit Sharma. In IPL 2026, fans will see this opening pair again.After de Kock’s signing, MI focused on buying young uncapped Indian players at base price.
