Most runs by an Indian batsman in a Test series while batting at number 7 or below: The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is proving to be quite spectacular for 21-year-old Nitish Kumar Reddy. Even though he is getting a chance to bat in the lower order, he is showcasing his skills in every innings. With a consistently good performance in every match, he has included himself in a list in which there were only three Indian batsmen before him. This list is of playing an innings of more than 30 runs five times while batting at number seven or below in a Test series. Let's know who all are included in this list.

This feat was first achieved by former wicketkeeper batsman Syed Kirmani. In late 1977, the Indian team went on a tour to Australia and on this tour itself, Kirmani batted from number seven to number nine in eight innings. During this, he scored 276 runs. Kirmani scored more than 30 runs in six of the eight innings, which included two half-centuries.

In late 1984, the England team came to India and four Test matches were played in this series. Kapil Dev scored 253 runs in the series while batting between number seven and nine. He batted in six innings and could not touch the double-digit mark only once. Kapil scored 30 plus six times in the series, which included two half-centuries.

Indian batter scored most 30+ scores at 7 or lower in a Test series: Nitish Reddy was included in the Indian Test team for the first time and got a chance to debut in Australia. In this series, he has batted at number seven or below. More than 282 runs have come from his bat in six innings.
So far, there has been only one occasion when Reddy has been out after scoring less than 30 runs. On this tour of Australia, his bat has so far produced scores of 41, 38*, 42, 42, 16 and 103*(still playing). In Melbourne, he has also scored his first Test half-century.

Rishabh Pant rocked his first tour of Australia. On this tour of 2018-19, Pant was out on scores of 25 and 28 in the first two innings. After this, he played innings of 36, 30, 39, 33 and then an unbeaten 159 runs. He scored 350 runs in the seven innings played in the series with an average of more than 58.
