Most One Day International (ODI) runs for India in 2025

India's 2025 ODI cricket calendar concluded with a 2-1 series victory at home against South Africa, where fans witnessed glimpses of the vintage Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Having retired from the other two formats, both players returned to play for India in Australia in early October. Yet, they showed no signs of rust and scored big runs, remaining among the top performers of the year. As the Men in Blue secured series wins against England and South Africa, along with the ICC Champions Trophy, here's a look at the top Indian batsmen with the most runs in ODI cricket in 2025.
1. Virat Kohli

India's number three batsman, Virat Kohli, was one of the key players in India's Champions Trophy victory. He scored a century in a challenging run-chase against arch-rivals Pakistan, followed by 84 runs against Australia in the semi-final. Upon his return to international cricket after a seven-month break, he was dismissed for a duck in two consecutive matches, but then made a spectacular comeback, scoring four consecutive half-centuries, including two centuries against South Africa. He finished the year as India's best batsman, scoring 651 runs in 13 innings at an average of 65.10 and a strike rate of 96.15. He had three centuries and four half-centuries to his name.
2. Rohit Sharma

The Indian star opener started 2025 in spectacular fashion, scoring 119 (90) against England in Cuttack. He then led India to victory in the Champions Trophy in Dubai, where he played a crucial innings of 76 (83) in the final against New Zealand. He was removed from the captaincy upon his return to international cricket, but this did not affect his performance, as he scored three half-centuries and a century in six matches against Australia and South Africa. He ended the year as the world's number one batsman, scoring 650 runs in 14 innings, including two centuries and four half-centuries.
3. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer, who was appointed vice-captain of India's ODI team, was India's highest run-scorer in the Champions Trophy. He scored 243 runs in the tournament on the slow pitches of Dubai. He finished second in the tournament's run-scoring charts, behind Rachin Ravindra's 263 runs, and also played a crucial innings of 79 in the final. He suffered an injury towards the end of the year, but still finished as the third-highest run-scorer, accumulating 496 runs in 10 innings at number 4, including five half-centuries.
4. Shubman Gill

The recently appointed Indian ODI captain started the year with scores of 87, 60, and 112 against England at home, followed by another century against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy and a crucial 46, which helped improve his ranking. Although he didn't finish the tournament or the year in spectacular fashion, he remained at number 4, having scored 490 runs at an average of 49.00, including two half-centuries and two centuries.
5. KL Rahul

Despite being a regular and successful number 5 batsman in ODIs before 2025, KL Rahul's role changed after the turn of the year, as he was asked to bat as a finisher after Axar Patel for most of the year, except for the last innings he played. However, he didn't disappoint in his new role and played some crucial cameos at the end of innings. He finished the Champions Trophy semi-final and final with impactful innings of 42*(34) and 34*(33) respectively and ended the year as stand-in captain, leading India to a series win against South Africa with scores of 60(56) and 66*(43). He finished the year with 367 runs in 11 innings at an average of 52.42 and a strike rate of 107.94.
