Marcus Stoinis retires from ODI cricket with immediate effect: Australia's star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has announced his retirement from the ODI format. Stoinis was made a part of Australia for the Champions Trophy 2025 to be played in February-March. But he announced his retirement from the format even before the start of the tournament. Stoinis is currently playing for Durban Super Giants in SA20.

Marcus Stoinis was part of the Champions Trophy 2025 team: Now after Stoinis' retirement, he will be replaced in Australia's Champions Trophy squad. All teams can make changes in the Champions Trophy squad by February 12. Let us tell you that the tournament will start from February 19.

Talking about Stoinis, he was part of Australia's winning team in the ODI World Cup played on Indian soil in 2023. Stoinis, who plays white ball cricket for Australia, will continue to play T20 cricket.

Talking about his ODI retirement, Stoinis said, "Playing ODI cricket for Australia has been a wonderful journey and I am grateful for every moment spent in green and gold. Representing my country at the highest level is something I will always remember," as quoted by cricket.com.au.

Stoinis further said, "It was not an easy decision, but I feel it is the right time for me to step away from ODIs and focus on the next chapter of my career. I have a great relationship with Ron (Australian men's team coach Andrew McDonald) and I have appreciated his support. I will be cheering on the boys in Pakistan."

Marcus Stoinis ODI career

Marcus Stoinis played 71 ODIs in his career. In 64 innings of these matches, he scored 1495 runs at an average of 26.69, which included 1 century and 6 half-centuries. Stoinis' highest score was 146* runs. Apart from this, while bowling in 64 innings, Stoinis took 48 wickets at an average of 43.12, in which his best figure was 3/16.
