Punjab Kings, captained by Shreyas Iyer, will play against Kolkata Knight Riders at their home ground. This match will be special because Iyer made KKR the champion under his captaincy last year, today he will face the same team. Punjab Kings star bowler Ferguson has been ruled out due to injury. The team's bowling coach has confirmed that his injury is serious and it is difficult for him to recover by the end of the tournament. After being picked for Rs 2 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, Ferguson performed well for Punjab Kings and took five wickets in four matches. Indeed, the Kiwi has been an important part of Punjab Kings' bowling plans, especially in the middle overs.
Ferguson is out of the tournament due to injury. He was injured in the last match against Hyderabad, after which he left the field. In his place, Shreyas Iyer can include Xavier Bartlett in the playing 11. Ferguson's absence will not affect Punjab Kings much as they have only a few options. They have Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Umarzai among the foreign options while Vijaykumar Vysakh is an Indian fast bowler who can be used.
