India finished their international cricket season in 2025 on a high note. The Men in Blue defeated South Africa by 30 runs in the fifth and final T20I of the series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on December 19.
After losing the toss, India posted a big total of 231 for 5. In reply, South Africa managed 201 for 8 in their 20 overs. With this win, India clinched the five-match series 3-1, as one match was abandoned due to fog.
This victory also marked the end of India’s international matches in 2025. During the year, India played 21 T20I matches, winning 15 and losing only three. Two matches had no result, while one ended in a tie. India finished the year with an impressive win percentage of 71.42.
Indian batters played a key role in this success. Several players delivered match-winning performances throughout the year. Let’s take a look at the top five Indian batters with the most runs in T20 Internationals in 2025.
5. Sanju Samson – 222 Runs

Sanju Samson stands fifth on the list. The wicketkeeper-batter played 15 matches and batted in 11 innings, scoring 222 runs. He averaged 20.18 and struck at a rate of 126.85. He hit one half-century in the year.
His best knock came against Oman during the Asia Cup in Abu Dhabi, where he scored 56 runs off 45 balls. Samson also played useful knocks against Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the same tournament. He returned to the playing XI for the final T20I against South Africa in Ahmedabad and ended the year with a quick 37 off 22 balls.
4. Shubman Gill – 291 Runs

Shubman Gill finished fourth among Indian run-scorers in T20Is in 2025. He played 15 matches and scored 291 runs at an average of 24.25 and a strike rate of 137.26. Gill did not score any half-century during the year.
His highest score was 47 against Pakistan in the Asia Cup in Dubai. Gill also made 46 against Australia in Carrara and remained unbeaten on 37 against the same team in Canberra.
3. Hardik Pandya – 302 Runs

Hardik Pandya had another strong year in T20I cricket. The experienced all-rounder scored 302 runs in 15 matches. He averaged 33.55 and had an impressive strike rate of 153.29. Pandya hit three half-centuries in 2025.
One of his best innings came in the final T20I against South Africa in Ahmedabad, where he smashed 63 off just 25 balls. He also scored a quick 53 against England in Pune and remained unbeaten on 59 against South Africa in Cuttack.
2. Tilak Varma – 567 Runs

Tilak Varma enjoyed a very successful year in T20Is. The left-handed batter played 20 matches and scored 567 runs in 18 innings. He averaged an excellent 47.25 and struck at 129.15. He scored four half-centuries in 2025.
His best performances included an unbeaten 72 against England in Chennai and a match-winning 69* against Pakistan in the Asia Cup final in Dubai, where he was named Player of the Match. Varma also played two fine knocks against South Africa in Mullanpur and Ahmedabad.
1. Abhishek Sharma – 859 Runs

Abhishek Sharma was India’s top performer in T20Is in 2025. The aggressive opener played all 21 matches and scored a massive 859 runs. He averaged 42.95 and had a stunning strike rate of 193.46. His tally included one century and five half-centuries.
His best innings was a brilliant 135 off 54 balls against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He also began the year strongly with 79 against England in Kolkata and scored 74 against Pakistan during the Asia Cup in Dubai.
