  2. 2004 - England: The West Indies surprised many by winning the trophy, defeating the host nation England in the final.
  3. 2006 - India: Australia showcased their dominance, defeating the West Indies to clinch the title.  
  4. 2009 - South Africa: Australia continued their winning streak, securing back-to-back titles by defeating New Zealand.  
  5. 2013 - England and Wales: India roared back to claim the trophy, defeating England in a thrilling final.  
  6. 2017 - England and Wales: Pakistan produced a stunning performance to win their maiden Champions Trophy, defeating arch-rivals India in the final.

Following the 2017 edition, the ICC decided to discontinue the Champions Trophy, focusing on the three major formats (Tests, ODIs, and T20s) with one global tournament each. However, in 2021, the ICC announced the tournament's return, much to the delight of cricket fans worldwide.

The Return: Champions Trophy 2025

The ICC Champions Trophy is set to make its comeback in 2025, hosted by Pakistan. This marks a significant moment for Pakistan cricket and promises to be a highly anticipated event.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in Pakistan. The qualified teams have been confirmed following the 2023 Cricket World Cup league stage: India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan (host), and Afghanistan.

The excitement doesn't stop in 2025. The ICC has also confirmed that India will host the Champions Trophy in 2029.
