Match officials and security personnel tried to intervene, but the fight escalated as players gathered around each other. In another video, Suarez was seen spitting at a Sounders assistant coach, adding another controversial stain to his career. This behaviour is not new from Suarez. He is infamous for biting players three times before. He bit Otman Bakkal for Ajax in 2010, Branislav Ivanovic for Liverpool in 2013 and Giorgio Chiellini for Uruguay in the 2014 World Cup.

The Sounders made history by becoming the first MLS team to win every major North American title. Their glittering trophy cabinet already includes two MLS Cups, a Supporters Shield, four US Open Cups and a CONCACAF Champions Cup. Osaze De Rosario scored for the Sounders in the 26th minute before Alex Roldan doubled the lead with a penalty. Paul Rothrock scored the third goal to seal a 3-0 victory for the Sounders. With the win, Seattle advanced directly to the Round of 16 of the regional tournament, which will earn a berth in the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup.
