Three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were very active at the IPL 2026 Auction on December 16. KKR had the highest purse of ₹64.30 crore. They had released many players before the auction, so they had a lot of money to spend.
KKR used their money well and signed many big players.
Cameron Green Is KKR’s Biggest Buy
KKR started the auction with a big move. They went all out for Australian all-rounder Cameron Green. After a long bidding war with Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), KKR bought him for ₹25.20 crore. This is the most money ever paid for an overseas player in IPL history.
KKR Strong Focus on Fast Bowlers
KKR did not stop after buying Green. They signed Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana for ₹18 crore. He was the second most expensive player of the IPL 2026 auction.
KKR also bought Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman for ₹9.20 crore. These signings show KKR’s focus on death bowling.
Indian and Overseas Players Added
KKR then signed uncapped Indian batter Tejasvi Dahiya for ₹3 crore. They also bought three New Zealand players - Rachin Ravindra, Finn Allen, and Tim Seifert - for a total of ₹5.50 crore.
Among Indian players, Akash Deep joined KKR for ₹1 crore. Rahul Tripathi returned to KKR for ₹75 lakh.
Uncapped Players Complete the Squad
To finish the auction, KKR signed four uncapped Indian players - Daksh Kamra, Sarthak Ranjan, Prashant Solanki, and Kartik Tyagi - each for ₹30 lakh.
KKR spent ₹124.55 crore out of ₹125 crore. They completed their squad with 25 players, including eight overseas players.
