Mumbai were unbeaten in the tournament after winning four consecutive matches, but Kerala broke their winning streak.

At the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Kerala won the toss and elected to bat first. The team posted a challenging total of 178 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing a target of 179 runs, Mumbai's strong batting line-up, which included big names like Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shivam Dubey, failed to reach the target. Mumbai were all out for 163 in 19.4 overs.

  • Sarfaraz Khan was the top scorer for Mumbai. He played a fighting half-century of 52 runs in 36 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes, but he could not lead his team to victory.
  • Ajinkya Rahane and Suryakumar Yadav both contributed 32 runs each, but could not convert their innings into big scores.

Hero of the Match: KM Asif's Five-Wicket Haul

Fast bowler KM Asif made the biggest contribution to Kerala's victory, breaking the back of Mumbai.

  • Asif took 5 wickets for only 24 runs in his 3.4 over spell. This is one of the best figures of his T20 career.
  • Apart from him, Vignesh Puthur and MD Nidhish also took 2 wickets each, due to which Mumbai kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
