Kane Williamson returns to IPL, joins LSG as a Strategic Advisor: There's big news regarding New Zealand's legendary cricketer Kane Williamson. He has returned to the IPL. Williamson missed the last season of the IPL, but will be seen in the IPL this time. However, he will play a key role off the field, not as a player. In fact, Kane Williamson has joined the Lucknow Super Giants. Interestingly, he has joined the LSG not as a player, but as a strategic advisor.

Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka has announced Kane Williamson's joining the franchise. Sanjiv Goenka shared this information via Instagram. Goenka wrote, "Kane has been a part of the Super Giants family, and we are delighted to welcome him as the strategic advisor to the Lucknow Super Giants. His leadership, strategic insight, deep understanding of the game, and ability to motivate players make him a vital asset to the team." It's worth noting that Kane previously played for the Durban Super Giants in the SA20. Sanjiv Goenka owns both the Durban Super Giants and Lucknow Super Giants.

Kane Williamson will be the new Strategic Adviser of LSG in IPL 2026: Kane Williamson has been away from the IPL for a long time. He last played for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024. However, he only played two matches that season. He didn't get a chance to play last season, but in the upcoming season, he will be seen strategizing for the Lucknow Super Giants off the field. LSG fans are excited to see Kane in this new role, as can be gauged by the outpouring of comments on Sanjiv Goenka's tweet. LSG fans are warmly welcoming Kane.

Kane Williamson's IPL Career

Talking about Kane Williamson's IPL career, he has played 10 seasons in the league as a player. He also won the Orange Cap in 2018. He scored 735 runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad that season. After remaining with Sunrisers Hyderabad as captain until 2022, Williamson was acquired by Gujarat Titans in 2023. He played only one match that season and was ruled out due to injury. Then, in 2024, he got a chance to play in only two matches. No team acquired him for 2025. Now, in IPL 2026, he will be seen with a new responsibility.

Regarding Kane's IPL statistics, he has scored 2128 runs in 79 matches at an average of 35.46. Kane, who played his first season in 2015, represented SRH and GT in the IPL as a player. Now, he will be seen taking on a new role with a new team.
