Kagiso Rabada ruled out of ODI series against Australia: South Africa suffered a major setback ahead of the ODI series against Australia when its fast bowler Kagiso Rabada was ruled out due to an ankle injury. 30-year-old Rabada underwent a scan on Monday which confirmed swelling in his right ankle. Rabada will stay with the team in Australia and undergo rehabilitation.
Kavena Mphaka, who took the most wickets in the T20 series last week, was included in the team in place of Rabada, but he was not included in the playing XI for the first ODI. Australia won the toss in the first ODI and decided to bowl first. The first match of the series is being played in Cairns, while the remaining two matches will be played in Mackay.
Earlier, Australia won the three-match T20 series between the two teams 2-1. Australia won the first T20 match in Darwin by 17 runs. At the same time, South Africa won the second T20 in Darwin by 53 runs. Then Australia won the third T20 by two wickets.

An official statement from Cricket South Africa on social media on Tuesday, August 19, said, “Proteas men’s team fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Australia due to swelling in his right ankle. Rabada, 30, underwent scans on Monday, which confirmed the severity of the injury. He will remain in Australia and undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of the Proteas medical staff,.
