Is India out of the WTC Final race? If not, can it still reach the final

After losing the 4th Test, can India still reach the WTC Final?: The Indian cricket team has suffered a crushing defeat by 184 runs in the Boxing Day Test match played in Melbourne. In this Test match that went on till the fifth day, Australia won by bowling brilliantly in the last session. At one time it seemed that the Indian team would draw this match, but by losing wickets continuously in the last session, they gave Australia a chance to win. With this defeat, India has also suffered a major setback in the points table of the World Test Championship. India's hopes of reaching the final are also gradually diminishing.

This defeat has brought a big change in the points percentage of the Indian team. While the points percentage of the Indian team was 55.89 after the third Test, now after this defeat, their points percentage has become 52.77 and they are in third place. This defeat is another big setback for India after South Africa has already confirmed its place in the final. Australia has achieved its 10th victory in this edition of the Test Championship and has reached the second position. Before this match, their score percentage was 58.89, whereas after this victory, it has become 61.45.

How Can India Qualify For WTC Final

After losing the home series against New Zealand, India started the Australia tour with a win. India defeated Australia in the Perth Test, but had to face defeat in the Adelaide Test. After this, the match played between the two teams in Brisbane was a draw and the series was tied at 1-1, but due to losing the Melbourne Test, India has fallen behind 1-2 in the series.

After this defeat, India will now have to depend on the results of other teams. Also, the next Test in Sydney will have to be won. A draw or defeat will put Team India out of the race for the final. This is Team India's fifth Test defeat in six Tests in the last two months under Rohit's captaincy. After losing 0-3 against New Zealand, India has lost in Adelaide and now in Melbourne. If India has to keep its hopes alive, it will have to win the Sydney Test at any cost. If India wins the fifth Test, the series will be tied at 2-2.

Australia has to play a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. If Sri Lanka defeats the Kangaroo team in this series, the situation will turn bad for Australia. If the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is drawn, India's PCT will be 55.26, while Australia's PCT will become 54.26 due to defeat against Sri Lanka. If Australia manages to draw a test against Sri Lanka, its PCT will become 56.48. India will be out of the race for the final by losing the series against Australia.

Is India out of the WTC Final race?: This defeat is a big blow for the Indian team because now their hopes of reaching the finals are almost over. If Australia wins or even draws the Sydney Test, then India will be out of the race for the finals. To reach the finals, the first thing they have to do is to win the Sydney Test.

After this, India will have to have a big expectation from Sri Lanka as well. After winning the Sydney Test, India will have to hope that Sri Lanka clean sweeps Australia in the two-match Test series to be held at home. If this happens, India's point percentage will become 55.26 and Sri Lanka will also remain at 53.85. Australia will be able to reach only 51.75.
