Ireland Bowler Achieves Historic Feat: Ireland all-rounder Curtis Campher created history on Thursday. He became the first player to take five wickets in five consecutive balls in men's professional cricket. Campher achieved this feat while playing for Munster Reds against North-West Warriors in the Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy. He took five wickets for 16 runs in 2.3 overs.

Campher took five consecutive wickets on the last two balls of his second over and the first three balls of the third over. Chasing a target of 189 runs, at one point Warriors' score was 87 runs for five wickets. After this the whole team collapsed to 88 runs. According to ESPN, Campher clean bowled Jared Wilson on the fifth ball of the 12th over of the innings. Then on the last ball, he got Graham Hume out LBW.
On the first ball of his next over, i.e. his third and 14th over of the innings, Campher completed a hat-trick. He took the wicket of Andy McBrine. Campher got him caught at deep midwicket. After this, on the second ball of the over, Campher got Robbie Miller caught by the wicketkeeper. Then on the third ball, he clean bowled Josh Wilson and achieved the special feat of taking five wickets in five consecutive balls.

Campher has already taken four wickets in four balls in T20 Internationals. However, Campher is not the first player to achieve this feat if men's and women's cricket are combined. Before her, Zimbabwean women's player Kelis Ndhlovu did the same against Eagles Women while playing for Zimbabwe Under-19 in a domestic T20 tournament in 2024.

Campher has so far scored 924 runs at a strike rate of 125.37 in 52 innings of 61 T20s for Ireland. These include three half-centuries. She has also taken 31 wickets in T20s. Her best bowling is four wickets for 25 runs. After the match, Campher said, 'I really did not understand what was happening because of the change of overs. I just stuck to my line and length and didn't let things get to me and luckily I was able to bowl well.'
