The IPL 2026 auction is coming soon, on Tuesday, December 16, in Abu Dhabi. Ten teams are preparing to pick players and finalize their squads. A total of 350 players will be in the auction, including 110 overseas stars and 14 uncapped players.
Overseas batters have always been important in the IPL. They can open the innings, strengthen the middle order, or finish matches at the end. In 2026, teams will again look to pick top foreign batters to make their squads stronger. Here are the five overseas batters to watch in the auction.

Steve Smith, the Australian star, can bat anywhere in the order. He hasn’t played in the IPL since 2021 but performed very well in recent T20 leagues like the Big Bash League and Major League Cricket. Even at 36, his experience and skill make him an attractive pick. His base price is ₹2 crore.
5. Pathum Nissanka

Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka is in excellent form. He scored a fast 107 against India in the Asia Cup and is doing very well in the International League T20, averaging 68 at a strike rate of 200. At 27, he could get his first IPL contract and may attract a high price.
The IPL 2026 auction will be exciting. Teams will look for experienced players, young talent, and strong batters to make their squads ready to win.
