In the IPL, every bowler dreams of taking a hat-trick. While some bowlers succeed in fulfilling this dream, many miss out on the opportunity. Going a step further, a select few bowlers have achieved this feat more than once. Throughout the entire history of the IPL, numerous bowlers have taken hat-tricks on various occasions, and one bowler has even accomplished this remarkable feat three times.
The IPL began in 2008, and since then, 20 bowlers have taken hat-tricks in the tournament; however, only three bowlers have managed to achieve this feat more than once. Let us introduce you to the bowlers who have earned the distinct honor of taking hat-tricks on multiple occasions in the IPL.
1. Amit Mishra
The record for taking the most hat-tricks in the IPL belongs to former Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra. Amit achieved this feat during the inaugural season of the IPL while playing for the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) against the Deccan Chargers. In a match played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, he dismissed Ravi Teja, Pragyan Ojha, and RP Singh. Subsequently, in 2011, while playing for the Deccan Chargers, Amit achieved this milestone once again—this time against Kings XI Punjab. He claimed the wickets of R McLaren, Mandeep Singh, and Ryan Harris.
Amit Mishra took his third hat-trick in 2013 while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. On that occasion, he dismissed Pune Warriors' Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rahul Sharma, and Ashok Dinda on three consecutive deliveries.
2. Yuvraj Singh
Yuvraj Singh has taken two hat-tricks in the IPL. Yuvraj claimed his first hat-trick in 2009 while playing for Punjab against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He dismissed Robin Uthappa, Jacques Kallis, and Mark Boucher. Yuvraj took his second hat-trick in the same year 2009 against the Deccan Chargers. On that occasion, he dismissed Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Symonds, and Venugopal Rao. Yuvraj is the only bowler in the IPL to have taken two hat-tricks in a single season. To date, no other bowler has been able to achieve this feat.
3. Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal has taken a hat-trick twice in the years 2022 and 2025. Chahal claimed his first hat-trick in 2022 at Mumbai's Brabourne Stadium while playing for the Rajasthan Royals against the Kolkata Knight Riders. On that occasion, he dismissed Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Mavi, and Pat Cummins. Subsequently, last year at Chepauk in Chennai, Chahal dismissed three players from the Chennai Super Kings Deepak Hooda, Anshul Kamboj, and Noor Ahmad. Chahal achieved this hat-trick while playing for the Punjab Kings. This season, Yuzvendra Chahal will have the opportunity to equal Amit Mishra's record.
