Instead of releasing the entire schedule all at once, only the first 20 days' schedule will be presented to fans for now.

Three major Indian states are going to have assembly elections during the IPL season this year:
- West Bengal
- Assam
- Tamil Nadu
Since all three states have major IPL venues (such as Kolkata, Guwahati, and Chennai), the BCCI has to coordinate with the Election Commission and local security forces. To ensure security arrangements are not compromised, the decision has been made to release the schedule in stages.

The start of the league remains uncertain, but according to the latest reports:
- Expected Start Date: March 28, 2026
- Final Match: May 31, 2026
Previously, there was speculation that the tournament would be held between March 26 and May 30. However, March 28 is now considered the most likely date. The actual date will be revealed only after the official schedule is released.
