The Gujarat Titans (GT) will face off against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, April 19, in what promises to be a high-octane Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 fixture.
GT have had a decent campaign so far, securing four wins out of six matches. But they come into this match fresh off a loss to the LSG. Meanwhile, DC are riding high on momentum, having edged past Rajasthan Royals in a nail-biting Super Over contest. With five wins from six matches, Delhi have emerged as the most consistent outfit this season.
Both sides are stacked with quality batters. With players like Jos Buttler, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan playing well, GT's top order has appeared to be powerful. On the other hand, DC’s batting unit featuring Abhishek Porel, KL Rahul, and Karun Nair has been equally impressive.
Given the batting strength on both sides, bowlers will need to rise to the occasion and make an impact. In this crucial match, the following three players have the potential to take the most wickets:
Mitchell Starc's extensive international expertise has greatly enhanced DC's bowling lineup. In six matches so far, the left-arm pacer has claimed 10 wickets, averaging 21.80 with an economy of 10.06.
While he only picked up one wicket in the previous match against Rajasthan, it was a game-changing dismissal of Nitish Rana. He also defended nine runs in the final over, forcing a Super Over, and delivered again in the decider, earning him the ‘Player of the Match’ title.
Starc remains the spearhead of Delhi's pace battery and will be expected to deliver once again against a formidable GT batting line-up.
This season, Prasidh Krishna has been one of GT's most impressive ball players. The tall pacer has taken 10 wickets in six games, boasting an average of 16 and an excellent economy rate of 6.95.
Even in GT’s recent loss to LSG, Krishna was a bright spot, returning figures of 2/26 and removing both openers—Aiden Markram and Rishabh Pant. His ability to strike early and maintain control in the powerplay has been key for Gujarat.
Partnering Mohammed Siraj in the pace attack, Krishna will be crucial against DC’s strong top order.
With 11 wickets in six games, Kuldeep Yadav leads DC's wicket-taking stats and has been in incredible form this season. His average of 13.18 and economy rate of 6.04 underline his consistency and threat with the ball.
In the last match against Rajasthan Royals, he claimed the crucial wicket of a well-set Yashasvi Jaiswal, helping Delhi claw their way back into the game. Kuldeep has a knack for picking wickets at vital moments, and his return to peak form has been a massive boost for the Capitals.
As the action shifts to Ahmedabad, the left-arm wrist-spinner will look to continue his rich vein of form and trouble GT’s middle order.
