The Delhi Capitals (DC) are set to face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a crucial IPL 2025 encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, April 29. DC will be eager to bounce back after a six-wicket loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and strengthen their top-four position. With six victories from nine games, they currently sit fourth on the points table with 12 points.
In contrast, defending champions KKR have struggled to find momentum this season. They are in 7th place with 7 points after only three victories in nine games. Their previous fixture against Punjab Kings (PBKS) was abandoned due to rain, resulting in shared points. Varun Chakravarthy continues to be a key player for KKR’s bowling attack. Although he had a modest outing against PBKS, picking up 1/39 in four overs, his overall season numbers have been encouraging. Varun has claimed 11 wickets from nine games at an average of 21.81 and an economy rate of 6.85, making him KKR’s joint-highest wicket-taker so far.

Veteran all-rounder Sunil Narine has not been at his peak with the ball this season, picking up seven wickets from eight matches at an average of 32.14 and an economy rate of 7.75. In the rain-hit game against PBKS, Narine went wicketless, giving away 35 runs from his quota of four overs.
However, Narine’s experience and the spin-friendly conditions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium could work in his favor. A surface offering turn and grip could provide Narine the perfect platform to rediscover his rhythm and deliver a match-winning performance for his team.
Both teams will be keen to dominate proceedings, but bowlers will have a major say on a surface that has shown assistance to spinners.
