Rahul, one of the experienced batsmen of IPL, can be among the big buyers in the mega auction for IPL 2025. His strike rate in recent seasons makes him a contender for this. Rahul scored 616 runs at a strike rate of 135.38 in the 2022 season, while his form dropped in the following season and his strike rate dropped to 113.22. In the 2024 season, Rahul scored 520 runs at a strike rate of 136.13, but his rhythm was disturbed due to injury in the middle of the 2023 season. Rahul has played 132 matches in the IPL so far and has scored 4683 runs at a strike rate of 134.61, which includes four centuries and 37 half-centuries. Despite his strong track record, the Lucknow franchise is exploring other options.
If Rahul is released, the Lucknow team can retain three players including fast bowler Mayank Yadav, leg-spinner Bishnoi and West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran. Mayank Yadav impressed everyone with his speed this season and it is believed that the franchise will retain him at a good price. However, Mayank played only four matches in the 2024 season and was ruled out due to injury. Mayank recently made his debut for India in the T20 series against Bangladesh. It is believed that the Lucknow team can retain Mayank for a price of 11 to 14 crores.
