IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant will be the captain of Lucknow Super Giants
Rishabh Pant has been appointed as the new captain of Lucknow Super Giants for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Pant, who was the captain of Delhi Capitals, entered the IPL auction ahead of the 18th season and his purchase proved to be a game-changer. He became the most expensive player in IPL history, with the Super Giants securing his services for Rs 27 crore.

Rishabh Pant entered the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore, but the bidding soon escalated. Both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad were in the race, but the Super Giants eventually roped in Pant by raising the bid to Rs 20.75 crore. Delhi Capitals matched this bid using the Right to Match (RTM) card, but the Super Giants placed a final bid of Rs 27 crore following the new auction rules under which the original bidder was allowed to increase his bid after the use of RTM.
