Will Harry Brook now be banned for 2 years?: IPL 2025 is going to start from 22 March. Just before the start of the season, England's star player Harry Brook has taken a big decision. He has withdrawn his name from the upcoming season. Brook was bought by Delhi Capitals in the mega auction of IPL 2025. Harry Brook entered the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore, but Delhi Capitals spent more than three times his base price to buy him.

The Delhi franchise had spent Rs 6.25 crore to buy Harry Brook in the mega auction. But now that he has withdrawn his name, the question in everyone's mind is, will he now be banned for two years? Let us tell you that now if the IPL organizers decide to follow the rules, then it is very possible that Harry Brook may be banned for 2 years.
Even before the 2025 mega-auction by the IPL, a rule was issued that if a player withdraws his name from the league after being bought in the auction, then he will be at risk of facing a 2-year ban. In such a situation, it is quite possible that Harry Brook may now be banned, and he may not play in the IPL for the next two years.
harry Brook wrote on social media, 'I have made a very difficult decision to withdraw from the next season of IPL. I apologize unconditionally to Delhi Capitals and their supporters.' He said, 'This is a really important time for England cricket and I want to be fully committed to preparing for the upcoming series.'

Brook said, 'For this I need time to refresh myself after the busiest phase of my career so far. I know that not everyone will understand this and I don't expect them to either, but I have to do what I think is right and playing for my country is my priority and my full focus is on this.'
Brook had also withdrawn from the last season of IPL due to the death of his grandmother. According to the rules related to IPL of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), if a foreign player does not play in this tournament in the event of not being unfit after being selected in the auction, then he can be banned for two years from playing in the IPL.

According to a BCCI document shared with teams last year, 'Any (foreign) player who registers for the auction and, after being selected in the auction, declares himself unavailable before the start of the season will be banned from participating in the IPL and the IPL auction for two seasons.'
