The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed some exceptional batting performances since its inception in 2008. Below is a detailed account of the top five highest individual scores made by batsmen in IPL history till April 2025. From Brendon McCullum's magnificent 158* in his IPL debut match to Abhishek Sharma's whirlwind 141 against Punjab Kings in this year's IPL, batsmen have always kept the tournament alive with their excellent power-hitting skills.

1. Chris Gayle – 175* Run

Chris Gayle scored an unbeaten 175 runs off 66 balls and became the highest run scorer in the history of the Indian T20 League. This left-handed batsman from the West Indies is considered to be the greatest batsman to have ever played T20 cricket. Gayle made this record while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Sahara Pune Warriors at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore in the Indian T20 League 2013. He hit 13 fours and 17 sixes in his innings.

2. Brendon McCullum - 158* Run

Brendon McCullum performed brilliantly for Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match of the Indian T20 League, scoring 158 runs off 73 balls. Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2008. His batting in the match included 10 fours and 13 sixes, which earned him Player of the Match honors and KKR defeated RCB by a record 140 runs.

3. Abhishek Sharma – 141 Run

Punjab Kings, batting first, posted a mammoth total of 245 for the loss of six wickets at the end of 20 overs, with Hyderabad youngster Abhishek scoring 141 off just 55 balls with the help of 14 fours and 10 sixes.

4. Quinton de Kock - 140* Run

Lucknow Super Giants opener Quinton de Kock played one of the most destructive innings in Indian T20 in 2022 as he smashed 140 runs off just 70 balls with the help of 10 sixes and 10 fours as LSG scored 210 against KKR and won the match by 2 runs.

5. AB de Villiers - 133* Run

AB de Villiers had a blazing performance against Mumbai Indians in 2015, scoring 133 runs off 59 balls, including 19 fours and 4 sixes, blasting bowlers like Malinga, Bumrah, McClenaghan and Harbhajan Singh to help RCB post 235. By the time his run ended, even MI fans were cheering him on. In the end, RCB won the match by 39 runs.
