Today i.e. on March 21, Chennai Super Kings announced their new captain for the upcoming season. Rituraj Gaikwad will be seen captaining Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2024.
Not only this, Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan was not seen in the captains' photoshoot, due to which all the fans were quite surprised. Actually, today i.e. on March 21, a photo session of all the captains took place and everyone was seen getting photographed with the IPL 2024 trophy. However, Jitesh Sharma was present in place of Shikhar Dhawan in this photoshoot on behalf of Punjab Kings.
Why did Shikhar Dhawan not attend the captains' photo shoot?: Many people gave their respective reactions regarding this matter on social media. Many people believed that Jitesh Sharma could be given the responsibility of captaining the team in place of Shikhar Dhawan, however now a big revelation has come to light regarding this. The Indian Premier League has shared the picture of the trophy of this important tournament along with the captains of all the teams on its official social media account.
He wrote on its caption, 'Here are 9 captains and vice-captain Jitesh Sharma participated in this session on behalf of Punjab Kings.'

A source close to Punjab Kings said, 'After the announcement of IPL, now we are going to tell you that Jitesh Sharma will be the official vice-captain of Punjab Kings this season. Shikhar Dhawan was not well and due to this he could not participate in this photoshoot. Punjab Kings have to play their first match against Delhi Capitals on March 23 and we hope that Shikhar Dhawan will recover before that.
Shikhar Dhawan is practicing vigorously with the team in Mohali for the match against Delhi Capitals. He can be seen performing well in the upcoming season.
