The schedule for the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been released. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday (February 17) informed that the first match will be played on March 31 between defending champions Gujarat Titans and four-time champions Chennai Super Kings. This means that young star Hardik Pandya will face the challenge of experienced Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the very first match. The final match will be played on 28 May. Both the opening and final matches will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
70 league matches will be played between 10 teams in 52 days. After that four playoff matches will be played. In this way there will be a total of 74 matches in the tournament. There will be 18 double headers (two matches in a day). All the matches will be played on a total of 12 grounds across the country. A team will play seven matches at its home ground and seven matches at the opposition team's ground in the league round. Last time Gujarat Titans won the title by defeating Rajasthan Royals in the final. He played in IPL for the first time. He had already succeeded in the first attempt.

For the first time after IPL 2019, it will be played at the home ground of all the teams. The tournament was held in the UAE in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, matches were played on some grounds in India in 2021, but due to the Corona epidemic, it was stopped midway and was completed in the UAE. In 2022 the tournament was played entirely in India, but with league matches in Mumbai-Pune and playoff matches in Ahmedabad-Kolakat.

IPL 2023 matches will be played at the home grounds of the teams. Matches will be organized in Ahmedabad, Mohali, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai, Guwahati and Dharamshala.
