The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will kick off on 26th March 2022 with a blockbuster clash between last year’s finalists, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
While the Lucknow side will be led by KL Rahul, the Gujarat Titans will be led by Hardik Pandya. However, a number of players might be missing for the first week for the various IPL franchises, either due to injury or due to the fact that they would be rendering their services for their countries.
Several Australian players who have been named in the Kangaroos’ ODI and T20 squad for the series against Pakistan will miss the opening week of the tournament.
While Finch and Cummins play for KKR, Maxwell and Hazlewood have been bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Stoinis renders his services for the Lucknow outfit.
Also, West Indies and England are currently involved in a three-match Test series, and this series will conclude only on 28th March. However, the IPL will commence on 26th March, and these players from England and the West Indies who are involved in the Test series might not be available for their respective franchises for the first week of the IPL.
