The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the Indian team for the Women's ODI World Cup 2025. India and Sri Lanka are going to jointly host this tournament and the captaincy for the World Cup will be in the hands of Harmanpreet Kaur. Stormy opener Shefali Verma has not got a place in the team, while on the other hand Renuka Singh Thakur has returned. Let us tell you that India will start its campaign in the World Cup with a match against Sri Lanka on 30 September.
Shefali Verma is known for her explosive batting, but due to poor form she has not got a place in the World Cup team. She returned to Team India after 7 months on the England tour, but in that series Verma was able to score only 176 runs in 5 T20 matches. Apart from this, she also went on the Australian tour as a part of the India A team, where she scored 3, 3, 41 runs in three T20 matches. The selectors have announced the Indian team for the ODI series against Australia, Shefali has not been given a place in that too.
The Women's ODI World Cup 2025 will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The tournament will run from 30 September to 2 November. A total of 8 teams will participate in this tournament which will be played in a round-robin format.
