Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli, who has retired from T20 and Test cricket, played his 310th ODI match against New Zealand on January 14th, surpassing former captain Sourav Ganguly's record. One of the world's leading run-scorers, Kohli is the second most successful batsman in ODI cricket after his idol Sachin Tendulkar and holds the record for the most centuries in history with 53 tons. In addition to scoring over 14,000 ODI runs, Virat Kohli has further embellished his ODI career with two Champions Trophy wins (2013 and 2025) and a World Cup victory in 2011.

Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin played 334 One Day International matches for his country between 1985 and 2000. He captained the Indian team in 174 of these matches, achieving a win percentage of 51.72. Besides being a successful captain, Mohammad Azharuddin was one of the best 50-over players of his era, scoring 9,378 runs at an average of nearly 37 and a strike rate of 74.02. This talented middle-order batsman scored seven centuries and 58 half-centuries in his career, including 65 scores of 50 or more.

This middle-order batsman also captained the Indian team for a period, first as an interim captain and then as the regular captain until the 2007 ICC World Cup in the West Indies.

Besides scoring over 10,000 ODI runs, MS Dhoni led the Indian team to a World Cup victory in 2011, ending a long drought, and followed it up with another triumph by winning the Champions Trophy in England in 2013.

In his illustrious ODI career, which spanned over two decades from 1989 to 2012, Tendulkar reached the pinnacle of his career by winning the 2011 ODI World Cup in front of his home crowd.
