The first T20 World Cup was played in 2007. The two teams faced each other in the 10th match of the group stage of the inaugural World Cup. Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik won the toss and elected to bowl first. India batted first and, thanks to a half-century from Robin Uthappa, scored 141 for nine in 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan could only manage 141 for seven in 20 overs. Misbah-ul-Haq top-scored with 53. There was no Super Over at the time; a bowl-out was played instead. Bowlers had to hit the wicket five times in succession.

For India, Virender Sehwag, Robin Uthappa, and Harbhajan Singh were successful in hitting the wicket. For Pakistan, Umar Gul, Yasir Arafat, and Shahid Afridi missed, and India won the match.

Gautam Gambhir's 75 off 54 balls and Rohit Sharma's 30* off 16 balls helped India post 157 for five in 20 overs. In response, Pakistan's top-order batsmen faltered. Rudra Pratap Singh, Irfan Pathan, and Joginder Sharma were ineffective against Pakistan.

3. 2012 T20 World Cup

Pakistan was not going to sit idle after India became the world champion. The Pakistani team became the champion in the second edition of this tournament. It did not face India in that. Similarly, the two teams did not clash in the 2010 World Cup either. In 2012, India and Pakistan faced each other in the Super-8 round. Batting first, Pakistan was all out for 128 runs. In reply, the Indian team achieved the target in the 17th over. Virat Kohli remained unbeaten after scoring 78 runs in 61 balls. Virender Sehwag played an unbeaten inning of 29 runs and Yuvraj Singh played an unbeaten inning of 19 runs.

4. 2014 T20 World Cup

India faced Pakistan again in the 2014 T20 World Cup. After losing the toss and batting first, Pakistan scored 130 runs in 20 overs. In reply, India achieved the target in 18.3 overs. Virat Kohli scored 36 runs and Suresh Raina scored 35 runs.

5. 2016 T20 World Cup

In 2016, the two teams met in the Super 10 round. Rain reduced the match to 18 overs. Batting first, Pakistan scored 118 runs. In reply, India lost three wickets for 23 runs. Virat Kohli's unbeaten 55 off 37 balls and Yuvraj Singh's 24 off 23 balls secured a six-wicket win.

6. 2021 T20 World Cup

In 2021, the two teams faced each other in the T20 World Cup after five years, and Pakistan defeated India for the first time. Batting first after losing the toss, India had a poor start, losing three crucial wickets in the powerplay. Captain Kohli's half-century helped India score 151 runs. Chasing the easy target, Pakistan's Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan performed brilliantly and returned with a victory. Rizwan scored an unbeaten 79 and Babar scored an unbeaten 68. Pakistan won the match by 10 wickets.

7. 2022 T20 World Cup

India defeated Pakistan by four wickets in the Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup. Batting first in the match played in Melbourne, Pakistan scored 159 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. In reply, India won the match by scoring 160 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Virat Kohli was the hero of Team India's victory. He played an unbeaten inning of 82 runs in 53 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes. During this, his strike rate was 154.72. Kohli was chosen as the Player of the Match for this inning.

8. 2024 T20 World Cup

India defeated Pakistan by six runs in a thrilling match. Batting first, the Indian team was all out for 119 runs in 19 overs. In response, Pakistan appeared to be in a strong position. At one point in the 14th over, Pakistan's score was 80 for three. Then the match turned around. Rizwan and Shadab were out. Jasprit Bumrah came on to bowl in the 19th over and took the wicket of Iftikhar for just three runs. In the 20th over, Pakistan needed 18 runs to win. However, Arshdeep took the wicket of Imad Wasim for just 11 runs.

In this way, Team India made the impossible possible. Defeat seemed certain, but the fast bowling quartet of Bumrah, Arshdeep, Siraj, and Hardik won the match for India. Pakistan managed to score 113 for seven after 20 overs. Bumrah took three wickets for India and was named Player of the Match. Hardik took two wickets, while Arshdeep and Axar took one wicket each.
