Lucknow: The Indian Youth Under-18 handball team has made history by securing a place in the final of the IHF Trophy Men's, Youth and Junior Handball (Continental phase - Asia). This is their best-ever performance in the competition.
In a thrilling semi-final match held at the KD Singh Babu Stadium, the Indian team overcame a strong challenge from Kazakhstan, defeating them 31-27. This victory sets up a final showdown against Uzbekistan, who defeated Bangladesh in the other semi-final.
The Indian team displayed an aggressive and attacking style of play throughout the match, putting constant pressure on the Kazakh side. However, Kazakhstan proved to be a formidable opponent, showcasing impressive agility and determination.
A key factor in India's victory was the outstanding performance of goalkeeper Naveen, who made several crucial saves. His exceptional display earned him the Player of the Match award.

Earlier in the day, Uzbekistan had already secured their place in the finals of both the youth and junior categories. They defeated Bangladesh 42-22 in the first semi-final of the Youth U-18 category.
In the Junior U-20 category, Uzbekistan continued their dominance, defeating Bangladesh 34-20 in the first semi-final.
Unfortunately, the Indian Junior team suffered a defeat against Kazakhstan in their semi-final match, losing 39-31. Kazakhstan held a 17-12 lead at halftime. Jaspreet Singh was India's top scorer with eight goals. The Indian team will now face Bangladesh in a match to determine third place.
This historic achievement by the Indian Youth team is a significant milestone for Indian handball. It demonstrates the growing talent and dedication within the sport in the country. The team and their supporters will be eagerly awaiting the final match against Uzbekistan with high hopes.
