Shoaib Bashir has been replaced by left-arm spinner Liam Dawson, who is making a comeback to Test cricket after almost eight years. The 35-year-old Dawson last wore England's white jersey against South Africa in July 2017 and has been performing consistently well in domestic cricket since then. His inclusion in the team is a testament to his form in county cricket, where he has performed well with both bat and ball.
Bashir suffered this injury while trying to stop a tremendous straight drive from Ravindra Jadeja on the third day at Headingley. The young spinner's brilliant series was cut short due to a fracture in the index finger of his left hand. He then underwent surgery, which ruled him out of England's plans for the remaining matches.

The Indian team will now be desperate to make a comeback in the series. However, the challenge of Manchester is not going to be easy for India. India has played a total of nine Tests at Old Trafford in Manchester so far. Out of these, England has managed to win four Tests, while five Tests were drawn. Team India has a great chance to break this series of defeats and draws and a win will make the series interesting.
