Garry Sobers' 59 year old record broken: Gill also broke the 59-year-old record of West Indies' great Sir Gary Sobers. He has become the foreign captain to score the most runs in a single Test series on English soil. Gill's 754 runs are more than Sobers' 722 runs. Sobers had scored this many runs as captain during the 1966 England tour. After him comes former South African captain Graeme Smith. Smith had scored 714 runs as captain in the series during the 2003 England tour.
Boundaries (4s + 6s) | Batsmen | Series |

Shubman Gill is also ahead in hitting boundaries: Not only this, Gill also became the Indian to hit the most boundaries (fours and sixes) in a Test series. He hit 97 boundaries on the current England tour. These include 85 fours and 12 sixes. Gill broke Yashasvi's record in this matter. Yashasvi hit 94 boundaries on England's tour of India last year. VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid are jointly third with 85-85 boundaries.
This achievement of Gill is also special because he did this feat in the challenging conditions of England, where seam movement and bounce often create problems for the batsmen. Despite this, he crossed this figure by dominating the bowlers with full confidence. With this record, Shubman Gill has made it clear that he is not only adept at playing long innings, but it is not easy to compete with him in terms of stroke-play as well.
