IND vs ENG Day 4 Highlights
Amazing performance of Indian bowlers on the fourth day
- Mohammad Siraj, Akash Deep and Nitish Reddy made the English sweat by taking four wickets in the first session of the fourth day. In the second session, spinner Washington Sundar gave relief to the Indian team by dismissing the in-form Joe Root and Jamie Smith.
- Jasprit Bumrah's luck did not favor him, otherwise England's second innings would have been out a little earlier instead of 192. The bowlers were getting more help from the Nursery end. Siraj took two wickets for just 11 runs in his spell of seven overs in the first session.
- From the other end, Bumrah troubled English opener Jack Crowley a lot. Siraj, who is an expert in heated debate with the opposition batsmen, got excited after dismissing opener Ben Duckett from the Pavilion end. Duckett and his shoulder also collided. He made a slight change in his line and length to target the stumps and got another wicket in the form of Ollie Pope. However, India had to use a review for this.
- Indian captain Shubman Gill replaced Bumrah with Nitish Reddy to bowl and this all-rounder, who took two wickets in the first innings, dismissed Crawley for the second time in the match. Reddy bowled outside the off stump and Crawley tried to drive but Yashasvi Jaiswal was able to catch him in the gully.
- Harry Brook adopted an aggressive stance and hit two ramp shots on Akashdeep's ball and then hit a six over mid-off. Akash kept bowling on the stumps and got the benefit of it when Brook missed the sweep and his middle stump was shattered.
- England lost four wickets for 87 runs in the first session but later Root and Stokes made an invaluable partnership of 67 runs for the fifth wicket. Bumrah, who was unfortunate in the morning, took two wickets by evening. If you did not watch the match, you would feel that Jasprit did not perform as per his stature but if you have seen his first spell of the day, you will say wow.
- Bumrah was bowling good length balls from a place where it was bouncing and going to the handle of the bat or reaching the wicketkeeper's gloves. In Bumrah's first spell, England batsmen played 11 wrong shots, out of which nine wrong shots were by Crowley.
