India was to play three ODIs and an equal number of T20 matches on the Bangladesh tour in August this year. Now the schedule of this series has changed. The BCCI, in collaboration with the BCB, has decided to conduct this tour in September 2026.

BCCI said in its release that, after mutual consent between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), it has been decided to shift this white ball series from August 2025 to September 2026. There were to be three ODIs and three T20 matches in this series. This decision has been taken by both the boards in view of international commitments and schedule. BCB is keen to welcome Team India in Bangladesh for this series in September 2026. The new dates of this tour will be announced in the coming days.

Apart from the reason given by BCCI, the reality could be something else. The political situation in Bangladesh is not good these days. A coup has taken place there a few months ago. India Today quoted sources in one of its reports and wrote, "The political situation in Bangladesh is not stable. Keeping the diplomatic aspect in mind, the Indian government has advised BCCI not to give the green signal to this tour."
