IND vs AUS: Squad announcement today: The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee is expected to meet on Saturday for this month's limited-overs series against Australia. RP Singh and Pragyan Ojha are also included in the committee for the first time. The agenda for the meeting is to select the ODI and T20 squads for Australia, but it will be interesting to see when the squads will be announced.

According to news agency PTI, the selectors will select the ODI team during the ongoing first Test against the West Indies, but the announcement may be made after the match. If ESPNcricinfo reports are to be believed, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli may return to the ODI team. Rohit and Kohli last played for India in the Champions Trophy final. Both players have retired from T20 Internationals and Tests and now play only in ODIs.

Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kuldeep Yadav are three players whose workloads will be monitored. Considering the 2027 ODI World Cup, it's important to manage their workloads. Therefore, they may be rested from the Australia tour. If Gill, Bumrah, and Kuldeep are selected in the ODI squad, they could be released from the team before the T20 series. If Gill is rested from ODIs, Yashasvi Jaiswal could replace him, while he could also open the innings with Abhishek Sharma in T20Is.
Rohit and Kohli have not played international cricket since the Champions Trophy in March and have put in a lot of hard work over the past seven months. Kohli, in addition to scoring a century against Pakistan, also scored the most runs in the semi-final against Australia. Rohit also played the winning innings against New Zealand in the final. There's no reason to remove Rohit from captaincy, as he has been very successful in this format. If he himself wants to leave the captaincy to focus on batting then it is a different matter.

India's tour of Australia will begin with the first ODI on October 19th. The next two matches of the series will be played on October 23rd and 25th. This will be followed by a five-match T20 series from October 29th to November 8th. During the selection committee meeting, the return of Rohit and Kohli, as well as workload management for players playing in all three formats, are likely to be discussed.
Indian players had a break after the five-match Test series against England, but the team has had a busy schedule since then. India participated in the Asia Cup and is currently playing a two-match Test series against the West Indies. Immediately after the second Test, the Indian team will play a limited-overs series against Australia. Within a week of the completion of the Australia tour, India will host South Africa for a two-match Test series, three ODIs, and five T20Is.
