IND vs AUS Pitch Report: Curator told about the condition of Melbourne pitch

IND vs AUS Pitch Report: The fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26, which is a Boxing-Day Test match. The series between India and Australia is currently tied at 1-1. Team India won the first match by 295 runs and Australia won the second Test by 10 wickets. At the same time, the third Test played at the Gabba ended in a draw.

Meanwhile, ahead of the fourth Test, pitch curator Matt Page says that Jasprit Bumrah and fast bowlers can be seen taking advantage of the condition of the Melbourne pitch.

Curator explains the condition of Melbourne IND vs AUS pitch

In recent years, there has been a change in the pitches of Melbourne, now there is good bounce and pace here. Matt Page says that the wicket is not like Perth or Brisbane, but it will help the fast bowlers.

According to The WA Today. Pitch curator Matt Page said,: “Now whenever good bowlers come here, they get excited. It's good for us. We can never be as fast as Perth and Brisbane, but over the last few years we have managed to get some pace into it. There's a little bit of grass on it. If you're a fast bowler and see that, you probably get excited. That probably means that if it was 20 (degrees) it would have grown a little bit faster. Whether we leave a little more moisture in it or not, I can't say yes or no at the moment. We'll keep an eye on the weather... and prepare accordingly. We've been very happy with it for the last few years, so it's like working out for us once again"

Ahead of the fourth Test match between India and Australia, there has been a controversy over the practice pitch. Some Indian media reports accused the Australian board of being biased towards Team India in terms of the pitches used for practice sessions. On this matter, pitch curator Matt Page says,

"We prepare Test match pitches here, three days in advance. If teams come and train before that, they get the same pitches that we had. Today, we are on fresh pitches. If India had trained today morning, they would have been on those fresh pitches. This is the normal process for us three days in advance”
